Forum Compraverde 2025: May 14-15 in Rome for a strong, sustainable, and independent Europe

19 March 2025

A strong Europe is one that embraces the Green Deal: competitive, responsible, and independent. This is the central theme of Forum Compraverde Buygreen 2025, the leading Italian and European event dedicated to green procurement policies, projects, and services, both public and private, promoted by Fondazione Ecosistemi. The event will take place on May 14-15 in Rome, at WeGil, Largo Ascianghi 5.

Compraverde 2025 delivers a clear message: the Green Deal is the only path toward a stronger, fairer, and more sustainable Europe. In a time of profound global transformations, vision, courage, and investment are essential to ensuring development and well-being. The time to act is now. The ongoing revision of the Green Deal through the European Commission’s Omnibus Package should be seen as an opportunity to enhance its implementation and accelerate its impact, ensuring that the ecological transition remains a concrete and effective priority. A strong Europe shares a common vision of development among all Member States, rooted in sustainability and equity. It is a Union that innovates, focusing on a competitive and responsible economy, respectful of the environment and climate, and striving for energy independence, primarily through renewable sources. Sustainability is not a constraint but a strategic driver that reduces costs throughout the lifecycle of products and services, preserves resources, improves quality of life, and strengthens economic stability. The Green Deal is the pillar of the ecological transition, and Green Public Procurement (GPP) is its key instrument. Through ambitious environmental criteria, GPP directs the market towards innovative and responsible production models, rewarding businesses that invest in a circular economy, low-carbon solutions, and high-value-added services.

Forum Compraverde 2025 will explore various topics related to sustainability and green procurement through panels and discussions with experts, institutions, and businesses. Key discussions will cover Green Public Procurement, analyzing best practices at both Italian and European levels, and deepening strategies and tools for effective sustainability policies. Climate governance will be at the core of the debate, alongside the role of corporate sustainability reporting. The event will explore Italian and European food policy models, opportunities for training and capacity building to support the ecological transition, and prospects for a more sustainable healthcare system. Attention will also be given to circular economy and green procurement, sustainable building practices focusing on CAM, DNSH, and green design, as well as solutions to reduce the environmental impact of cultural and sporting events. On the Forum stage, the best GPP experiences in Italy and across Europe will be showcased, with case studies and best practices.

The Forum Compraverde Buygreen is organized under the patronage and participation of the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the Lazio Region, and Rome Capital, in partnership with Legambiente, the Coordination of Local Agendas 21, Ali – Italian Local Autonomies, and Fairtrade Italy.
