Energy efficiency of public buildings: public procurement as a driver of industrial transition

10 May 2026

The energy transition of public buildings is no longer just about reducing consumption or replacing outdated systems. Today, it directly concerns the ability of public spending to steer markets, accelerate innovation and strengthen strategic industrial supply chains linked to sustainability and competitiveness. Schools, hospitals, public offices and infrastructures are at the centre of a transformation that combines environmental goals, industrial innovation and the quality of public investment. In this context, Green Public Procurement and Minimum Environmental Criteria are becoming increasingly important tools for defining standards, technologies and management models capable of supporting the ecological transition. The challenge is no longer limited to improving the energy performance of buildings, but extends to rethinking their entire lifecycle: design, energy management, maintenance, digital innovation, environmental performance monitoring and emissions reduction.

Against this backdrop, Forum Compraverde Buygreen 2026 will host the conference “Energy efficiency of public buildings: the role of Italian companies”, scheduled for Thursday 28 May at 12:00 in the Brundtland Hall. The conference will bring together institutions, public authorities, companies and sector experts to discuss tools, models and technologies for the energy renovation of public buildings, with a focus on the contribution of Italian companies across the entire supply chain — from design and implementation to management and digital innovation.

Speakers will include Roberto Rossi, President of Confindustria ASSISTAL, Andrea Migliore from RINA Prime Value Services, Dana Vocino from Fondazione Ecosistemi, Maurizio Cardinale from Ecosfera Servizi, Michele Caccavo from Coopservice and Marco Desideri, General Director of Descor. The session will be introduced and moderated by Domenico Casalino, Senior Advisor at Luiss Business School.

The event is part of Forum Compraverde Buygreen 2026, taking place in Rome on 27–28 May at WeGil.
