Corporate Sustainable Procurement Policies: 6th Sustainability Monitor Report

Corporate procurement decisions are increasingly central to the governance of the ecological, industrial and social transition. It is along supply chains that impacts are generated, markets are shaped and production models are defined.

The Sustainability Monitor Report (SMR), now in its sixth edition, analyses the sustainable procurement policies of Italy’s leading large enterprises, offering an up-to-date overview of their role in transforming the economic system. Promoted and produced by the Ecosistemi Foundation, the report serves as a tool for analysing and comparing the strategies adopted and the impacts generated along supply chains.

At a time when Europe is called upon to strengthen competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy, the SMR highlights how private procurement can make a tangible contribution to innovation, sustainability and the upgrading of supply chains, in line with European objectives.

The 2026 edition takes on a particular character: the focus is on companies participating in the Italian Circular Economy Platform (ICESP), coordinated by ENEA, a network bringing together over 200 entities, including companies and trade associations. This sample represents the most advanced segment of the production system, analysed to understand how procurement policies can support the circular transition and strengthen the integration of environmental and social objectives.
