Applications open for the Compraverde Buygreen Award 2026

29 January 2026

Applications are now open for the Compraverde Buygreen Award 2026, the award that for twenty years has recognised excellence in Green Public Procurement (GPP) in Italy and across Europe. The Award is part of the programme of the 20th edition of the Forum Compraverde Buygreen, a key national and European reference point for sustainable public procurement.

For 2026, the Award is once again open to public authorities, companies and organisations, with participation extended at European level. The aim is to highlight initiatives that successfully integrate environmental, social and sustainability criteria into public procurement processes, contributing in a tangible way to the green transition.

Applications are open until Thursday 16 April 2026 and may be submitted in one of the nine Award categories. The categories reflect the main sectors in which Green Public Procurement can deliver environmental and social value, ranging from public purchasing policies and collective catering services to healthcare, construction, culture, sport and supplier selection processes.

  • Green Tender – For public authorities that promote sustainability through green tendering procedures.
  • GPP Policy – Recognising public administrations that embed environmental criteria into their procurement policies.
  • Green Canteen – For collective catering services that prioritise organic, local and sustainable products.
  • Vendor Rating and Sustainable Purchasing – Awarded to companies that apply sustainability criteria in purchasing processes and supplier selection.
  • Green Culture – For cultural events and film productions with a reduced environmental footprint.
  • Social Procurement – Dedicated to public authorities that include social criteria in procurement procedures, safeguarding workers’ rights and fair working conditions.
  • Green Building – Recognising companies that adopt eco-innovative materials and sustainable solutions in the construction sector.
  • Green Hospital – For healthcare organisations committed to green purchasing strategies aimed at reducing environmental impacts.
  • Green Sport – For sports organisations that deliver low-impact events and sporting activities.

Following an evaluation process carried out by a panel of national and international experts, the Award will be presented during the Compraverde Buygreen Forum 2026, as part of the initiatives celebrating the 20th anniversary of Compraverde.

Taking part in the Compraverde Buygreen Award means joining a network of excellence that for twenty years has helped transform public procurement into a strategic lever for sustainability.
